Voigtlander Vito II shutter stuck

I bought a Voigtlander Vitomatic II off ebay after getting a IIa with a faulty rangefinder, it arrived and the rangefinder worked, great. But then I realised to my dismay the shutter was jammed. I tried the usual trick of advancing the cog inside that is driven by the film being advanced, no luck Yes-camera linkage at fault, No- shutter at fault/needs a CLA. Removing the lens cells and flushing the shutter with degreaser might be a temporary fix. 90% Isopropyl Alcohol or CRC Quick Dry Electrical Contact Cleaner are safe to use on the camera and shutter. thirteenthumbs, Nov 4, 2015 # The Vito II shoots similarly to other scale focus folding cameras from the 1950s with one exception which is the location of the shutter release. Unlike other cameras where the shutter release is either on the top plate or the shutter itself, the Vito II has a unique shutter release on top of the door I checked the Voigtlander Vito B cameras I have in my collection and found they show a good variety of shutter and lens combinations

The Voigtlander Vito II predates the Vito B, and as such is a little less convenient to use. As mentioned, it's a folding camera with an 50mm f/3.5 lens. On my version, the lens is mounted in a compur-rapid shutter with speeds from 1 second to 1/500th and Bulb - all of which seem to work close enough for fairly normal usage As mentioned the Voigtlander Vitomatic II is a fixed lens camera and has a fairly respectable 50mm 1:2.8 Color Skopar lens, shutter speeds are B, 80, 30, 15, 8, 4, 1, ½, ¼, 1/8, 1/15, 1/30, 1/80, 1/125 and 1/300 sec (quite a lot on the slow end) and f stops f2.8 to 22. I understand this is a first generation Vitomatic II so dates around 1958 Home > Analog Workflow Forums (100% Analog/Traditional) > Analog Equipment > Rangefinder Forum > Voigtlander Vito B. Voigtlander Vito B. tjaded Aug 1, 2007. Hi all-- Check around for a quote from a shop. If not, I had a Kodak Retina IIIc with a stuck shutter repaired by an Ebay seller that goes by WWMARK. He only charged $25 for the work. The original pre-war Vito is very rare today. It was designed for unperforated 35mm cinema film and made 30mm x 40mm exposures. Throughout most of the 1930s, Voigtländer would mainly stick to medium format roll film cameras like the Bessa, the Perkeo, and the Inos

To close the Vito II, press the two tabs inside the door and push the door until it latches. The Vito II works much like any other 35mm folder: wind, set aperture and shutter speed (guess exposure or use a meter), cock the shutter, frame, guess at subject distance and set the focus ring accordingly, press the button Voigtländer Vito is 35mm film folding camera, manufactured for un-perforated 135 film by Voigtländer & Sohn AG, Braunschweig, Germany produced in 1939/40 and 1947-50. Vito was the first 35mm camera of the Voigtländer brand. Vito is known as Vito I also. The first, early Vito was produced in small numbers in 1939/40, (some sources say the beginning was 1940), until war disrupted the. The Voigtlander Vito II's merit is no secret, I can tell by how quickly they get snapped up every time they come around, and by the steady prices even the lower-end ones command. All sport the semilegendary Color-Skopar lens regardless of their other features (shutter, accessory shoe, etc. About 8 years ago I managed to work the Vito CD's shutter free, but not permanently. I also bought a Zenit E with a broken shutter about that time, which is still in a hundred pieces in a box, so it hasn't been all smooth sailing for the cameras I try to restore. But the Vito CD has stuck in my mind as something I have to finish one day

Reputedly the last folding 35mm camera in production, Voigtländer's Vito IIa was just one of many cameras the company produced bearing the Vito name. Introduced in 1955, the Vito IIa was a refinement of the Vito II, which itself improved on the original pre-war Vito (the Vito III was an altogether different rangefinder model). The Vito cameras also have specific model numbers to identify. Voigtlander Vito 35mm folding camera - focus, shutter and aperture The shutter fitted is a Prontor II unit which has a range of speeds from 1 sec to 1/200, a bulb position and a self timer. The 50mm f/3.5 lens is a Voigtlander Skopar which has good a reputation and was fitted to many of Voigtlander's cameras for many years I also bought a Zenit E with a broken shutter about that time, which is still in a hundred pieces in a box, so it hasn't been all smooth sailing for the cameras I try to restore. But the Vito CD has stuck in my mind as something I have to finish one day. With that in mind, I bought a Voigtländer Vito CLR from a parts bin at a camera fair The Vito B is a lovely small camera. It was the first rigid Vito series camera, made after the folding Vito I, II and III. It's a very well designed camera, very compact and handy. Its beautiful design would disapear with the second Vito B version with a larger finder and a larger top cover The Vito BR 35mm camera was manufactured by Voigtlander & Sohn A.G. for a short time in circa 1958. Constructed of all metal with leather covering for the grip. The Voigtlander Vito I, a film camera I've had knocking around for some time. It's been collecting dust on my desk for far longer than I would like to admit to. The Voigtlander Vito I was bought with the intention of a some use and passing it on to a new owner. That was until I discovered that there was a problem with the shutter I have a Vito B, though it has a slightly different shutter (Prontor SVS: I suspect the actual shutter mechanism is the same but the SVS couples aperture with shutter speed so you can pick one and it will pick the other). With the back open the shutter is completely closed on mine Design Changes. The Vito IIa was introduced in 1955 and was a development of the Vito II.The Vito IIa was based upon the same design concept found in the Vito B, which was produced concurrently. The Vito IIa offered a centered accessory shoe to permit the use of a Kontur viewfinder, and benefitted from a single stroke lever film advance lever in place of a wind knob The stuck shutter turned out to simply be stuck from — you guessed it — thickened grease, and was easily freed with some ligher fluid and exercise. I did not re-lube the shutter mechanism after flushing it The leaf shutter that doesn't always work with precision on the longest shutter times. Often they not been used for years and can be exercised to work again, but sometimes they have to be disassembled, cleaned and lubricated, which is a job for specialist tools. The light meter

  2. The last Vito Bs (both small and large viewfinder variants) also had the facility to set an Exposure Value, which synchronised shutter and aperture settings.. The shutter is cocked by the film engaging a sprocket wheel, preventing double exposure, and so will not cock if there is not a film present; this has led some to mistakenly diagnose the shutter of a working Vito B as broken
  3. The Experience of Using a Voigtlander Vito ii. It's hard not to marvel at the meticulous and clever designs of fully mechanical cameras and with the Voigtlander Vito ii there's no exception. Folding the lens out works flawlessly. When folded in, the camera is still quite a bit larger than say a Rollei 35, but the 35's lens does not retract

Voigtlander Vito II review - A simple folding 35mm compact

Unlike Vito B, the exposure counter is on the bottom of the camera, but still reliable and accurate as always in Voigtländer. The only things I dislike about the Vitomatic IIb are the ugly shutter release button and the modern look of the camera that reminds me of the disgusting Agfa Optima of the sixties. I find the previous Vitomatic IIa version more classical and elegant Voigtlander Vito 2 printed camera manual. Buy today. On offer is a Voigtlander Vito II with a Color-Skopar 1:3.5 50mm lens. Please see my note below re the shutter fault. For speeds of a 10th of a second or less the shutter gets stuck or closes after a fair while. I noticed that the shutter lever is catching on something internally which is stopping it from closing. I am not sure if this is. Broadly speaking, the Vito II was very similar to the Vito except that it used a sprocket rather than a feeler for the film advance (the original was designed for 828 film before the war). Looking casually at the design, it seemed to use the very same arrangement that had killed my Vito, which didn't encourage me strictly for parts. bottom lock lever missing. shutter stuck. pick up Heidelberg or I can post at buyers expense. strictly for parts. bottom lock lever missing. shutter stuck. pick up Heidelberg or I can post at buyers expense. Voigtlander Vitessa L: Most Elegant 35 Folder . The Voigtlander Vitessa L gets my vote as the most beautifully made, most elegant, and most innovative 1950's 35mm folder. The fit and finish is exquisite, approaching Leica M3 standards. No other folder even comes close in my book, though the Zeiss Contessa would get 2nd place Unlike the Vito B, the Vitomatic IIb features a front-mounted release, which always take a bit of practice to get a feel for how to take a photo without moving the camera. From inside the viewfinder, two prism reflect into the right corner shutter speeds 60-500, and the associated aperture setting Perkeo II closed.
