Hello! I just got my first crayfish and he's the electric blue I've been wanting for months, he was very active and cute then a few hours later I check on him and he's barely moving. I move him out of his small aquarium (he was in a tiny aquarium for a few days before I got the filter & heater for my 50 gallon), I changed his water frequently. I put him in the 50 gallon once I got the filter. I have a crayfish that is laying on its side on the plant next to the surface, whats wrong? Pet. Close. 3. Posted by 3 years ago. Crayfish Molting Problems. Unfortunately, sometimes crayfish can fail at molting (they cannot get out of their old shell or cannot even break the shell). They lie on the side and periodically try to bend the shell. In some cases, it may last hours and days. Unfortunately, once the molt starts to go bad, we cannot do anything to help them Caught my crayfish lying on his back earlier today, and he moved with some prodding. He's back in that position and won't move now. I was told he was molting or dying. Any ideas? Dig out a rectangular pond. First, find ground where you'll have plenty of space but still be able to connect to your main water supply. Since you'll need a big pond to start a farm, get some friends to help dig or hire a company to excavate the land for you. Plan for the pond to be at a minimum about 5 to 7 metres (16 to 23 ft) long and wide 1 to 1.2 metres (3 ft 3 in to 3 ft 11 in) deep If you observe crawfish clinging to vegetation or traps while lying on their side at the water's surface, oxygen is at a critical level. Growth may be reduced, catch usually will de-crease, shelf-life of live crawfish will be shortened, and it can potentially induce a white spot syndrome virus outbreak. White Spot Virus Updat

The walking legs of the uppermost side were elevated as the full position was assumed and thus aide I have had my crayfish for just about two years. Today we found him laying upside down in the tank.
